JSA were appointed as planning consultants for the preparation of a masterplan in conjunction with BKD architects for the future development of Boland’s Mills. JSA prepared and co-ordinated a number of submissions and participated in the Oral Hearing for the draft Planning Scheme for the area. Subsequently, John Spain Associates worked with a multi- disciplinary team who helped secure planning permission for a major mixed-use redevelopment of the Bolands Mills site, which includes the restoration of the five original mill buildings, and the construction of two new landmark office blocks and one landmark residential block. This was the first significant application to be made under the fast-track planning process provided for under the Grand Canal Docks and North Lotts SDZ Planning Scheme, 2014.
