Project Description: Wilton Shopping Centre serves as a District Centre for the South West of Cork City. However, the shopping centre is an outdated 1970’s format and it was proposed to comprehensively redevelop it to provide an improved and high quality mixed use district centre.
The proposal included a significant expansion in the retail floorspace within the centre, the provision of up to 10,000 sq.m of office development, medical services floorspace, a hotel and conference centre, a 9 screen cinema and student accommodation.
Scope of Services:
John Spain Associates were appointed as planning consultants to provide planning consultancy services, advice on the proposed masterplan, prepare an Environmental Impact Statement, a Retail Impact Statement and all accompanying planning application documentation for the redevelopment of this key suburban centre for retail, office/employment, recreational, leisure and commercial/service/residential floor space. John Spain Associates also provided an overall project coordination role for the entire project team, which included Wilson Architecture, Arup Consulting Engineers, BSM Landscape and Pedersen Focus, up to planning approval.
