JSA were delighted to act as the planning consultants for Kennedy Wilson on The Cornerstone in Stillorgan. This impressive redevelopment of the former Leisureplex site on the Old Dublin Road and Lower Kilmacud Road comprises a residential led scheme of 232 apartments with associated amenities, along with a mix of retail and cafe/restaurant units. A new public plaza has also been delivered as part of wider public realm enhancements.  

The Cornerstone is a landmark development where we provided strategic planning advice and applied our expert attention to detail throughout the planning application stages, working alongside a great team including O’Mahony Pike Architects, Waterman Moylan Consulting Engineers, and Mitchell + Associates – Landscape Architects Urban Designers. 

The scheme was permitted as a Strategic Housing Development by An Bord Pleanála in 2019. Two subsequent LRD permissions were obtained from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for alterations to the scheme. The Cornerstone introduces a new urban edge and public realm to the Lower Kilmacud Road, Old Dublin Road and St. Laurence’s Park. The proposal interfaces successfully with the subsequent DLRCC residential scheme to the south on the old library site, which was a key consideration in the planning process along with the scheme’s integration with the wider Stillorgan public realm improvements.
