Overview
JSA Planning coordinated planning for the regeneration and enhancement of the Sports Precinct at University College Dublin’s Belfield Campus.
JSA Planning Role
JSA prepared feasibility reports, advised on planning inputs, and led pre-application meetings with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
The proposals included:
- Reconfiguration of the existing sports precinct
- New external sports pitches, access infrastructure, and landscaping
- A new Multi-Purpose Sports Hall aligned with UCD’s Strategic Campus Development Plan 2016–2026
- Three planning applications were submitted in 2022 and 2023, all successfully permitted without appeals.
Outcome
Phase 1 is nearing completion, and Phase 2 (construction of the MPPEC) is scheduled to begin in May 2025.
