Overview
JSA Planning acted as planning consultants for Abbott on the development of a new high-technology manufacturing facility in Kilkenny. The plant will produce blood glucose monitors to support diabetes care, representing a significant investment in Ireland’s life sciences and medical technology sector.

JSA prepared and managed the planning application submitted in 2022, coordinating design team inputs and advising on all relevant planning policy considerations to support the delivery of this advanced manufacturing facility.
Outcome
Planning permission was granted by Kilkenny County Council within 8 weeks. The facility is currently under construction and will employ approximately 1,000 people once operational, contributing substantially to local employment and Ireland’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity.ind
