Electricity Transmission Projects
Overview
JSA Planning have acted as planning consultants for numerous Electricity Transmission Strategic Infrastructure Development Applications to An Coimisiún Pleanála. These applications relate to the high voltage grid infrastructure to serve large scale data centre and energy generation projects (relating to infrastructure carrying voltages of ≥ 110kV).
JSA Planning Role
These projects have generally comprised a 110kV or 220kV substation, along with overhead or underground transmission line connections to existing transmission grid infrastructure (either via connection to an existing substation or via a loop-in connection to nearby transmission lines). JSA Planning have coordinated pre-application consultations with the Commission and the preparation of robust applications for these developments.
Outcome
JSA Planning have delivered multiple Electricity Transmission permissions over the past ten years. These applications are critical to the delivery of power to data centre campuses, and for the transmission of electricity from new generation infrastructure to the grid.
