Overview
Change of use of most of the existing Findlater House from office and educational use to hotel with a café at ground floor level, plus the addition of one storey for extra hotel accommodation and refurbishment of elevations, including new façade treatment and signage.
JSA Planning Role
John Spain Associates provided planning consultancy services, managed and coordinated the design team, advised on relevant Development Plan policies and objectives, and led consultations with the Planning Authority for the redevelopment of this strategic site. JSA prepared and lodged the application to Dublin City Council in August 2013 and prepared the response to a third-party appeal.
Outcome
A notification of decision to grant was issued by Dublin City Council within the 8-week period in October 2013, and An Bord Pleanála issued a decision to grant planning permission in March 2014. The development contributes positively to the character, footfall and vitality of O’Connell Street and the wider city centre.
