Overview
JSA Planning were appointed by Spencer Dock Development Company Ltd. as planning consultants for the site at North Wall Quay/Guild Street in Spencer Dock, now housing the National Convention Centre. Since 2003, JSA have led planning engagement with Dublin City Council for this landmark development.
JSA Planning Role
JSA assisted in obtaining several Section 25 Certificates under the Dublin Docklands Development Authority Act, 1997, coordinated the multi-disciplinary team and Environmental Impact Statement for the original approval, which included the National Convention Centre and a 13-storey hotel to the rear. JSA subsequently secured amendments permitting an increase of three additional floors to the hotel element.
Outcome
The National Convention Centre was delivered as a major commercial/cultural venue, significantly enhancing Dublin’s capacity to host large-scale events and conferences and contributing to the city’s international business profile.
