Overview
Gas fired generation projects can play an important role in the ongoing decarbonisation of the electricity grid, by providing swiftly dispatchable generation capacity, helping to balance the peaks and troughs inherent in intermittent renewable generation technologies such as wind and solar.
JSA Planning Role
JSA Planning have significant experience of coordinating planning applications for large scale gas fired generation projects, with capacities of up to several hundred megawatts, including projects in the Greater Dublin Area, Louth, Meath, and the West of Ireland. All projects in this sector have included Environmental Impact Assessment Reports.
Outcome
The Climate Action Plan includes a target of at least 2 gigawatts of additional flexible gas generation, and John Spain Associates have helped to deliver planning permission for projects which will significantly contribute to the realisation of that objective.
